President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, D.C. 20500
Dear President Obama:
On October 14, 2009 you visited a construction site in Virginia and said your Administration will “continue to explore each and every avenue that I can think of that will lead to job creation and economic growth.”
Given your willingness to consider new ideas for creating jobs, we respectfully ask that you work with Congress to quickly enact economic recovery legislation that will:
- Lower Taxes on Small Business. Give firms with fewer than 500 employees a tax deduction equal to 20 percent of their income.
- Lower our Health Care Costs. Allow small businesses to join together and purchase health insurance for their workers.
- Increase the Net Operating Loss Carry Back from 2 to 5 Years. This will provide struggling employers with additional resources to keep their doors open.
Mr. President, we write this letter in the spirit of Americans who share your desire for prosperity. While many of us may have differed with your administration on how to achieve a growing economy, we can’t help but notice the respect you carry for former President Ronald Reagan. One of his more famous quotes therefore may be in order, “The best social program is a paycheck.”
Mr. President, we’re employers. The businesses we run provide paychecks. The three policies offered above will help us hire more employees and hand out more paychecks. Please direct your Administration to work with Congress to quickly enact the solutions above.
Thank You.
Congressman John Boehner
Chairman, Employer Nation
